Fetching large quantities of historical data from the FXCM via Seer can be very slow and it can seem that Seer has frozen. If your data pack is relatively old (ie months), then it can take a very, very long time…
We are working on a solution that will make updating historical data much faster. In the meantime, if you need more data, email email@example.com and we will provide you with links where you can download pre-built Seer datastores.
How do you download more than 1 years of historical data from fxcm?
Once connected to FXCM, goto main menu, Datastore, Fetch Data, FXCM.
In the window that opens, change the first drop down to History, the second drop down to selected symbols, then in the text box, type the instruments that you are interested in (try and do one symbol at a time…).
This option will fetch all the history for that symbol(s) so you are looking at millions of bars for many years for the major pairs. Note, the process is extremely slow, so leave it for a while.
Alternatively, drop support an email (firstname.lastname@example.org) and they will email you a link where you can download a datastore with everything pre fetched (ie, full history for everything).
